Once he got outside, he put the next rafter in place...
Good thing he built the wall strong since he's now working on it putting up the next rafter...
Final rafter going in place...
Again sitting on the wall to make the top connections...
Next was the track piece for the top of the window frame...
Cutting pieces to make blocking to attach to the stud underneath the window...
The clip angle will attach to the roof and then the blocking attaches to the clip angle...
Attaching it to the roof...
Better picture from up on top...
Next, Jim bought the bottom track piece in place...
Then he made and attached the two side pieces to the rough frame opening of the window.
He went back into the metal shop and started making the blocking pieces that will go at the tail end of the rafters. He got 3 of the 4 made.
At the end of the day, Jim spent about 15 minutes using the metal detector. He found an old shotgun shell head - we did a little research and it is a Peters shell, circa 1910-1927. Peters was a Cincinnati OH company and bought out by Remington in 1934.
It was a different world then - this shell was probably used to shoot turkeys. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by the mass shootings this weekend in El Paso and Dayton.
