I'm heading out this morning to see my mom - Jim will try and take pictures of things while I'm gone and I will do a recap post when I get back!

6.20.2021

Hope that everyone had a wonderful Father's Day - I'm so grateful to Jim for being such a wonderful dad.  We, of course, think of both of our dads today that we miss so much and send a prayer out for them.

Not sure how much relaxing time Jim got today, but he said he was doing what he wanted so that's all that counts!  He spent time in the wood shop this morning - doing more prep work for door pieces...

Straightening out the pieces...

Pieces in the gluing cycle...

Jim spent almost all afternoon detailing my car - finishing the wax job, detailing the inside, putting the EZPass in the car (which I would have forgotten!), and getting it loaded up.  He's the best!

Once he was done with that, he spent the rest of his time doing some more trimming in the yard.

Hard to believe it's officially summer already.  We've had an absolutely beautiful spring and after a warm day tomorrow, the weather will continue to be picture perfect!

Jim got the other side of the baseboard backing pieces primed today...

Jim started working with these giant soft maple pieces that we got at the lumberyard...

He got the two stiles cut for the next door he is going to make - the bathroom door.  We have a temporary one in place but this will be one of the gorgeous doors!  He made the bedroom doors out of pine but wanted to make one out of maple to see how it went.

I'm going to be leaving Monday for a long-awaited trip to see my mom!  So Jim spent most of the afternoon getting my car ready (best.husband.ever).  He made sure all the fluids were topped off and everything was good under the hood...

He washed it...

And started waxing it...

This little Friar Tuck has been part of our home for a long time but it got damaged through the move.  Jim has it all glued up and gave it a power spray...  Final pictures to come when it gets a home inside again!

6.18.2021

As we headed out last night, this deer was down at the end of the driveway and never moved the whole time we were watching.

We went to Lowe's and bought some $60 plywood - crazy!  It was around $15!  Jim had brought his saw and cut the plywood the size he needed and so it would fit in the back of the car...

We met the fellow for a successful Craigslist sale and then had a date night at Applebee's, followed by frozen yogurt at Menchie's!

This morning, Jim unloaded the truck and then got busy on the last wood pieces, straightening them on the jointer...

He cut the plywood into the size he needs for the baseboard backing and then put a coat of primer on them...

He made some more calls today at lunch, trying to track down the hydraulic fittings he wanted for the car lift.  Another supplier near by said they had them so he took off to see.  And they did - the smaller fitting is what came with the car lift - the bigger one has an adaptor at the end to extend it...

This is the before - Jim wasn't happy with how tight the lift cylinder fitting was against the cylinder support cup...

With the extender on, the fit is much better...

Then Jim was able to hook up the hydraulic lines and work on the tension alignments on the cables...

He put the accessory rack and the safety catch cover on the post...

He was able to finish doing the trimming he wanted to get done around the house before coming in to hop on the treadmill - everything looks great!

Using the planer this morning...

Gluing together the last two pieces of pine left from our lumberyard trip....

All clamped and drying...

Jim bought these new seals at Bobcat yesterday - he was able to get the old ones off the excavator - quite the difference!  They were never greased and they had used the wrong size pin.

He got the switch box and receptacle wired in the pole barn today...

Jim did the rest of the lawn mowing and more trimming today before calling it a day.  We are going to go to Lowe's in a few minutes and pick up some expensive plywood and a few other parts.  Jim is meeting someone for a craigslist sale at 7:00 and then we are going to have an Applebee's date night afterwards!

More wood being glued in the moulding factory today...

Out of all the pine that Jim bought in Ghent a week-and-a-half ago, this is all he has left.  Another trip to the lumberyard will be in our future!

Jim finished up installing the slats in this section of the stairwell railing...

It looks gorgeous!

Jim did some work in the pole barn - he attached the box for the receptacle...

Mid-afternoon, Jim headed to his plumbing supplier.  He talked to them on the phone about hydraulic fittings for the car lift and they thought they had them.  But they didn't.  They are going to check and see if they can get them from another store but Jim has another supplier lined up as well.

Once he got home, he finished cutting the grass and did a little trimming at the side of the house...

6.15.2021

I had a routine doctor appointment this morning and ran errands afterwards so I was gone for a big chunk of the day.  Jim got more work done in the moulding factory this morning...

He started putting up the slats in this next section of railing...

He also hooked up the hydraulic lines on the car lift.  He's questioning the tolerance fit on one of the parts so he's going to do so more investigating and may contact the company.

Jim ran to Bobcat in the afternoon to pick up some seals he needed for the excavator.  Once he got home, he cut some grass until a pop-up shower put an end to that.  I had picked up some electrical parts for him that he ordered at Lowe's, so he worked a bit on that.

6.14.2021

More working in the moulding factory - Jim said I could just use pictures from every other morning - ha!

More gluing...

Jim mostly wore his electrician hat for the rest of the day.  He had wired the Tig welder into a 240V circuit so that Kyle could use it when he was up.  But Jim wants to use that circuit strictly for the air compressor and car lift so he rewired into the other 240V circuit on the back wall.

He wired a plug onto the connection to the car lift - this is temporary until he decides for sure how he wants to wire things.

He got both of the lift cables attached now and the hydraulic cables in place...

Then he worked on the electric in the pole barn - he got the junction box all wired up and the wires brought down to the switch box...
