Happy Halloween!  We don't get trick-or-treaters here, but this fellow has been hanging around in the stairwell!

Jim started getting his primer stirred up and ready to go...

Starting with trim work around all the mechanicals...

Rolling on the primer...

Continuing to work down the wall...

All of the skim coated areas are now primed!

Jim finished out his day rebuilding Kyle's drill with the new part that came yesterday...

10.30.2021

Jim hung some pictures up in Mom's room this morning...these are pictures they had taken before they  were married!

They look so nice hung up...makes her room feel more like home!

This picture frame of me and my two brothers needed some repair work - the ribbon had disintegrated over time.  We bought new ribbon and Jim took it all apart, repaired it and hung it up - looks so good!

Jim moved his file cabinet into the pantry room today - it had lived in the wood shop all this time so this is the perfect spot for it.  He may need to put new glides on it and he is doing a little sorting of his files before putting it all back together.

Doing some hand finishing of this tiny area between the door and the wall where no tools fit!

Working on sanding on the outside of the pantry room...

Working his way down the wall...

We'll be off to church soon...

10.29.2021

Mom and I headed back out to the Lake George area today to try again to apply for her NY State ID card. We had to bring along proof of her name change - which meant her French marriage license!  They weren't sure they would accept it at first but eventually did.  We stopped for a photo op at the Adirondack Welcome Center - you can see how foggy it was this morning.

Jim had gotten the pantry room details done when we got home - receptacle and switch covers on, desk and chair moved into place.  Looks like a room!  We're going to move Jim's wood file cabinet in here as well to get it out of the shop.  Jim even vacuumed all the PVC pipes and rafters in this room to get all the dust out.

Jim needs more wood - he's made a bunch of calls to see who has what.  He decided to venture to the closer mill after lunch today so he was trying out his moisture meter to ensure the wood was really kiln dried.  However, once he got there, they didn't have good quality of what he needed.  They told him there is a batch being dried now so he'll probably go again at the end of next week.

Jim got the outdoor hose blown out yesterday and got everything ready for winter - he put the hose reel in the pole barn after the photo.  He also got what should be the last mowing down for the year.  We were saying that it just seems like that season started!

10.28.2021

Some of us (who shall remain nameless) celebrate this day everyday, but for the rest of you - eat some chocolate!

Plastering behind all these utilities that are very close to the wall has been a real challenge!

We decided to paint the inside of the pantry room the same color as the kitchen - Escape Gray.  We had some paint mixed in that color that we were going to donate so good to put it to use.  Plus it's a great color!  Jim started with the trim work, again working in the rafters...

Continuing to do the trim work...

Starting to roll the paint on...

In the "it just figures" file, Jim got the entire room done except this one swath.  That meant getting out the mixer and mixing up another gallon (the paint is old so it had settled and really needed mixing)...

Finishing up...

Inside is all painted and looks great!

Jim got the part he needed to fix Kyle's paint gun, so after meticulously cleaning it all and installing the part, he got it to work again.  He's still waiting on parts for the drill.

10.27.2021

This morning, Mom and I headed out to the DMV to get her a State of New York non-driver license.   Jim and I always like to go to the one a bit north of us.  Besides being so efficient, it's in a gorgeous area.  Unfortunately, we didn't have all the paperwork we needed - we have to take in her marriage license.  Will be interesting since they got married in France and the license is in French!  We did some shopping at the outlet mall across the street, went into Saratoga for a few errands and lunch at Panera.  It was a full day!

Jim had been really busy while we were gone.  He prepped more wood for drawer parts so quite a bit is in the gluing stage again...

Since he is in the skim coating mindset right now, Jim wants to continue to work on the wood shop walls.  In order for him to do this area around the window, he had to dismantle the dust collection system and cover his jointer.

Of course, there is always stuff to work around whether it be utilities in the ceiling or tools in the shop...

Continuing down the wall...

He got a big chunk of this wall done today!

Fall is so beautiful on Angel - we're back to seeing mountain ridges again...

10.26.2021

Before starting his work day, Jim hung up the necklace rack for my mom that my brother, Brian, had made for her...

He got more wood glued together for drawer pieces...

After completing all the sanding in the pantry room yesterday and sweeping up, Jim vacuumed the room inside and all around the outside - that fine dust goes everywhere!

Then he started priming - doing the hand trimming around so many obstacles!

Rolling the primer on is easier but it is still cramped quarters inside the room with the desk in there...

Continuing to work his way around the room, doing hand trimming first...

Then rolling....

Inside all primed and looking good!

Finally to the outside - still lots to work around but at least he has more room for maneuvering...

Working on last wall...

Jim had to work past quitting time, but he got the room primed both inside and outside!

10.25.2021

Jim had to do one of his favorite things today - sanding the skim coated walls in preparation for primer...

He got the new skim coat all sanded and the floor swept; then he moved the desk over and started on the back wall...

Inside of the room done and one outside wall...

Buried in the rafters, he's working on the other outside wall...

While he was still in plaster mode, he decided to do a little skim coating on the wood shop walls that have already been plastered...

Gluing up more wood for drawers...
