We got back last night from our trip to Ohio - I'll try and recap some of what Jim did while I was gone as well as my mom's move to New York!
Jim spent the bulk of his time getting things ready for my mom. Kyle came up on the 8th for a visit and to help Jim do some moving. They brought both side shelves up and Jim got them attached to the wall - they look fabulous!
He mounted the ironing board holder on the side (my iron doesn't quite fit because of the moulding - we'll test out my mom's later!)...
Clothes rod mounted...
We bought my mom a new iPad to make texting and emailing a bit easier - Jim worked on getting that and started doing some Apple TV set up...
Jim and Kyle moved Jim's office desk into the pantry room - it's very heavy and had to be taken all apart and reassembled. When the room is done, we'll bring my postage meter down and put it on the desk. Then Jim did some rearranging in the living room so that there's more space to walk around. Jim is planning on making a smaller writing desk this winter but we're happy with the new arrangement.
Jim continued working on the pantry room too - lights up and working and door installed!
Jim had to do some car work on the 4Runner - he had to replace oxygen sensors and he rotated the tires as well as going over it to make sure there weren't any glaring issues before making a long trip...
Jim's colleague from the University of Akron stopped by for a visit while I was gone too - he was coming back from camping in Vermont and stopped by. Jim enjoyed the visit!
Jim left Thursday morning to drive to Ohio, getting in late that night to my mom's. My mom and I had been busy packing, donating and getting administrative tasks done in preparation for the move. The next morning we loaded up both vehicles...
We drove to Erie PA the first day and stayed at a hotel before continuing on the next day. We got home last night and Mom got a look at her new place to live!
Later in the afternoon, Jim continued working on the pantry room. He's insulating the areas around the utilities/framing at the top just to keep dust from infiltrating the room...
We're so excited for Mom to be here - thanks to everyone for their well wishes and support!
It was mostly 80 degree days in Ohio so it was nice to get back here to cooler temps (although Ohio was cooling down as well). The leaves here are really beautiful - hopefully the rain we are having won't bring too many down before I can get some pictures!
