The connection Jim ordered for connecting the water line to the garbage disposal came in today so Jim started doing all the plumbing...

Hooking up the water line...

Jim has the line neatly tucked out of the way...

Then we were able to get power to it for the first time!  He left the lower panel off until we try it out just to ensure there are no leaks.

Jim talked with his brother, John, who works for Pella Windows, about options for fixing our two broken bathroom windows.  Jim has determined that the windows must be breaking because of the way the snow falls off the roof at that corner or the way the building shakes a bit when a lot of snow lets go.  No matter, we have two broken windows.  So tempered glass is in our future for this window but it's either a matter of replacing the entire sash or taking the glass out of the existing sash and rebuilding it.  Jim wanted to try rebuilding it first.  His brother told him the trick of getting the outside cladding off and Jim did that this morning.  Next he has to take off the wooden bead holding the glass into place.

This afternoon, it was time to put in the anchor bolts to hold the posts in place on the car lift.  These jobs are when the blog really comes in handy - Jim was able to double check where all the Pex lines are.  Looking back at some of these pictures really shows how far we've come - and how much work it took to get here!

Jim had bought a new 3/4" bit for his concrete hammer drill - look at the size of these anchor bolts!

Starting to drill the first hole...

Wow - it's amazing that you can drill through concrete like that and have such a nice clean hole!

Jim has to make sure all the dust is out of the hole so that it doesn't cause issues so he used his air compressor and vacuum...

Then it requires some brute force to pound the bolt in...

Jim knows he will need to shim these areas since the concrete is never completely level.  He put a few shims in and he'll do the main leveling/plumbing work tomorrow.

All six bolts are now anchored into place!

Starting on the other post...

These back bolts really required some dexterity to get them in place - especially when trying to pound them in...

Jim got all the bolts in place on this post too - he hit the rebar on his very last bolt but thankfully it was right at the end and the bolt was still able to be pounded in enough.  When you look at the earlier picture above, it's lucky he didn't hit it more!  Another big block checked on car lift installation!
