8.22.2019

Jim and I both have dental work to get done before the end of the year.  I went first and had the prep work done for 2 crown replacements.  After that, I headed to do some errands so I was gone all morning.

Of course, he had been very busy while I was gone.  He put the screen in the new window so that we can now open it up for ventilation in the stairwell.

Jim did the hip shingles as far as he could go...

Then he started putting shingles on the other side...

Cutting and distressing shingles...

Working up the roof...

He had to make more step flashing as well as he continued working up the roof...

Once he got to the same point as the other side, he put a hip shingle at the top and bottom and struck a line between the two to make sure he gets the placement straight.  We definitely have to order more hip shingles though.

Then it was time to start putting shingles on the dormer roof!  Jim got the starter row and a start on the next row.

But getting all these different pieces to work together and be waterproof is quite the challenge.  Jim has to make sure he does everything in the right sequence.  In order to attach shingles to the sides of this roof, he has to have the sub-fascia board in place.

He had them made but once the shingles and step flashing were on, he needed to do a little tweaking.

Then he wanted to prime the cut...

So that was the end of the roof work for the day as it was getting late.  Jim had lots of scraps to organize for trash pickup tomorrow.

He also continues to investigate the truck issue.  Yesterday when he started it back up with the injectors switched, it didn't smoke much at all and all the injectors had the same temperature reading. He did the same today - the readings were still the same but it smoked more.  He drove it into town and put some diesel fuel in it.  More to ponder...
High 79/Low 52 - beautiful!
