Once he got home with the newly-inspected Mini, Jim headed up onto the roof to install the bottom copper flashing on the dormer.
Next he had to design the corner flashing. He first made one out of aluminum and once he proofed out the design, he made the two mirror image corners.
Right after lunch, Jim headed out again to talk to the truck people about the injector. He talked to the parts people and then they actually brought up a mechanic to talk to Jim. The mechanic agreed that the bad injector is what is causing the smoking issue but he had no good solutions for finding the right injector. He called Isuzu in Albany (which was going to be our next road trip) and talked to them. Of course, the price doubled then. They were still looking into options and are supposed to get back with Jim. Then once he has all the info, he'll make a decision on how best to proceed.
Once he got home, the sun had moved in the sky and the dormer was in shade, so he went back up on the roof to install the window! He first cut an X in the house wrap over the window opening.
Then he cut off the excess, folded it back against the frame and stapled it in place.
Next he used the magic Zip tape to do the sill flashing...
The shim at the bottom of each corner of the window is attached first...
Making sure it's all level...
Then fastening it in place. You can see the precarious way Jim has to be on the planks in order to work on the window.
More precarious working conditions...
Pella tape is next on the sides...
And across the top...
Window is all installed - you can see Jim checking it out in the reflection!
