Jim was back up on the stairwell roof this morning.  He decided to use wood to frame the window to help with installation and moldings later on, as well as insulating.  So he first took out the metal studs that he had put there.  Then he had to make the wood pieces.  Since wood 2" x 6" boards aren't really more like 5-1/2" wide, Jim had to use a 2" x 8" board and cut it down to fit inside the steel studs which are an actual 6".

Sides and top done - he's leaving the bottom for later.

Getting set up to cut sheathing...

Cutting the first piece...

He's attaching a guide to the underside so that it lines up exactly where he wants it...

Setting the first piece in place...

First screw to fasten it down...

Yikes - working from the new roof to put all the fasteners in place...

Cutting the next piece...

Bringing it up the scaffolding...

Putting it into place...

He decided to put a toe board on the roof to make it easier and safer to work...

Fastening the next piece...

Roof sheathing all done!

Jim spent some time going through his copper supply to see what he has.  The next step will be to put drip edge on the roof and get the underlayment put down.

Off to church!
High 70/Low 49 - cool and beautiful!
