Jim custom fit the fascia pieces for the dormer roof - when he was satisfied, he painted them...

Then he had to design flashing for the connection of the dormer to the roof - this is a very vulnerable area.  It helped that he did similar flashing before for the connection of the shed dormer roof to the main roof on the carriage house; however, that was a long time ago!  He first worked with aluminum until he was happy with the design and then made the pieces out of copper.  Each side has 3 overlapping pieces...

He first put the fascia board up and then the first piece of copper flashing...

This flashing is done...

Then it was time to do the other side - this is the before picture with the trim board up...

Putting the fascia board in place...

All fastened...

Copper flashing all finished!

Jim got the first roof shingles cut that will go over the flashing - we'll pick up here tomorrow.  For now, we're off to church!

High 71/Low 51 - beautiful!
