8.8.2019

Jim started his day by meeting someone for a Craigslist sale.  This guy drove from Binghamton to buy the original bumper from Jim's (later Kyle's) old 1986 Toyota Tacoma.  This guy's dad has been looking for one for a long time - amazing how those things work out.

After that, Jim worked in the wood shop, assembling and gluing the front panel for the access door into the auto bay attic.

He also had some steel work to do, working on steel for shelves in the pole barn.

After lunch, Jim got a call from Tubbs garage.  They had gotten the tire off and inspected the brake issue.  You can see the smoke residue on the brake pads.  Thankfully, Jim had stopped driving before the pads were destroyed; they won't have to be replaced.

However, one of the pistons inside the caliper is seized so the caliper has to be replaced.  They were going to order one from NAPA but Jim likes the quality and price better from Rock Auto, so he's ordering that - it will be in Tuesday.  You can see the smoke residue here too...

However, the reason Jim was checking all this out was because they broke the windshield of the truck!  It was a freak thing - the truck was jacked up and the handle of the jack was straight up.  When he was finished with the air compressor hose, he tossed it out of the way and it just happened to hit the handle and then flipped against the windshield.  Now we have a new windshield on order - that won't be in until Wednesday!  So that certainly puts a damper on plans to use the truck for parts pick up.

At the end of the day, Jim spent time trimming and getting the yard spiffy!
