Jim started the morning in the wood shop - he used the wood he glued together to make one stile for the bedroom door - he has to flatten the glued board on the jointer once it's glued. Then he glued up wood for the other stile.
After lunch, it was time to break through to the dormer from the inside! Jim wanted to first start conservatively cutting with the saw...
Taking the first section out...
Then starting on the other side...
Taking it out...
We can see daylight!! Next, Jim got out the Sawzall...
Cutting along the edges...
Working along the bottom. These pictures make it look much easier than it actually was - there were screws and steel studs to work around.
Taking off the bottom section...
Wow - look at that view, even in the rain!
Cutting off excess roof underlayment...
Starting with the Sawzall...
Ripping down the last section...
Of course, there's always hand work in projects - Jim had to use a hammer and chisel to get some parts of the sheathing cut down.
Wow - it looks so good! And totally changes the stairwell look - it feels bigger and we get so much natural light coming in!
Love a man who cleans up his messes!
After we got the stairwell swept and cleaned up, Jim headed down to the metal shop to continue making some pieces for his bracket.
