Jim had to start his day with his twice-yearly eye exam to make sure his eye pressures remain stable and all is well. He had a complete workup and battery of tests this time and everything came out great - we are so thankful and blessed! Of course, his eyes were very dilated so no outside work until they came back to normal!
Jim went out to investigate the truck situation again today. This was another good day; no significant smoke and all injectors are reading the same temperature. So at this point, he's not going to replace the expensive injector unless something changes and will make a decision on the back door. Good news!
Jim then focused his attention on designing and making the flashing that will go at the intersection of the dormer to the stairwell roof. It's a layered design - the step flashing, then the trim board, then another piece of copper flashing and then the fascia board.
Here is the flashing installed...
Now that the trim board is installed, Jim was able to proceed on to putting shingles on the dormer roof. Because this is a flatter roof, Jim has to use a 6" overlap of the shingles instead of the typical 7" overlap.
Once Jim could no longer reach the roof from the roof jack, he had to work on top of the dormer.
However, that meant that he had to play Spiderman in order to climb up the roof...
And even scarier, climb down the roof!
Dormer roof shingles are done!
The stairwell looks so amazing!
Jim had been communicating with a couple from Craigslist who wanted to buy the microwave we bought here when our old one died and before our new one was installed. They called and showed up when Jim was still up on the roof, working on the fascia boards. They were very nice but they stayed and talked for quite awhile so the end of the day wasn't quite as planned. But they were excited to get the microwave and it was nice chatting with them.
