Jim was back up on the stairwell roof this morning - taking some measurements...

Then it was time to take more of the roofing material off in the work area...

Big chunk off...

Next he needed to make the header for the window in the wall opening, so time to do some metal work...

Putting the header together...

Putting the header into place...

Jim had to lay on his back on the roof to fasten the back of the header into place...

Now that the header is in, the wall structure is very strong - so Jim can sit on it and start taking the the upper section of roofing material off...

Look out below!

Once again, Jim has to measure and mark the inside opening reference points on the underlayment material...

Wow - good thing Jim is flexible since he had to go underneath the wall to make his markings!

There are lots of screw holes from the toe boards and roofing material, so to hopefully avoid any leaks, Jim covered each one up with some Tyvek tape.

He had to cut the top of the roof shingles from this row underneath the wall - he was able to use his tin snips to make easier work of this job.

Putting up the first rafter clip angle on the roof...

First rafter going into place...

Fastening it into place...

Then he put the next clip angle on the opposite side and put that rafter into place...

End-of-the-day shot - all the roof clip angles are in place and fastened - ready for more rafters tomorrow.

Then it was off to church.  On our way home, we decided to eat dinner at a restaurant that we had a coupon for that was expiring.  Wow - it was a little out of comfortable zone with all the track people in town.  When we left, there was a Bentley, a Jaguar and an Austin Martin in the parking lot.  Of course, we were right in there with our fancy Mini but still - we're more of beer and nacho people.  We did stop of ice cream on our way home - they put in a small shop just a few miles of us that just opened.  Sure are glad to be home now!
High 83/Low 59 - beautiful! (unless you're doing roof work - then it's really hot!)
