12.22.2016

Kyle and Julia came early to celebrate Christmas - it's wonderful to have them here!  Jim headed out to the property for a little bit in the morning but we all didn't go out until late afternoon.

Before he came home yesterday, Jim put up another ceiling joist in the kitchen!

After an apartment tour, Jim wanted to get Kyle's help on starting the ceiling joists in the auto bay.  The scaffolding was already set up here from when we took it off the outside of the auto bay.  The auto bay is still pretty cold inside so we brought the heater down to get a little heat while working.

First step was to figure out placement - this ceiling will be over 13' to accommodate the car lift.  Then they set up the mount and laser level.

Marking each stud with the line from the laser level...

...and continuing around the auto bay.

At this point, Julia and I left the men to their own devices and headed home to bake some Christmas cookies.  They said that they got the first ceiling joist up in place and fastened but there are no pictures so we'll have to take their word for it until tomorrow!  (They both left their phones at home, thereby failing blog lesson #1 - ha!)
