After a leisurely breakfast, Jim and Kyle headed out to the cold-formed steel company. They have a "boneyard" outside where they keep steel that people have ordered and didn't pick up or that wasn't needed for whatever reason. Jim's contact there had given him a list of what they currently had there and they had quite a bit of the sizes that Jim needed. He got a great price on them so it was worth digging around in the snow to see what they had. Kyle's helping to load up the truck.
They had to get back and unload all of the steel and then they started working on installing the ceiling joists in the auto bay. These are over 20 feet long so it was great to have Kyle here to help out!

Marking the top and bottom lines on the wall for the stud on top that will allow for the floor in this area and the bottom angle to be used to attach the ceiling drywall.

After the guys came home and we ate a later lunch, Julia and I went back to see the progress. When they put the joists in place, they just put enough fasteners to hold them in place. Then Kyle went back and put the rest of the fasteners in. He got to see how difficult putting all these screws in really is - especially on scaffolding and above your head!

At this point, Julia and I came home to do a few Christmas dinner preparations. The guys knocked off a tad early and we had a fun night, exchanging presents and watching the Cavs and Scrooged (a Christmas movie must!).
