He got the tracks cut for the next double wall around the box beam rafter.
Placing the last stud in the wall...
And he got all the remaining studs cut and fitted in the other side of this double wall!
Jim keeps the kerosene heater going in the woodworking shop - gives us a nice place to warm up. However, it comes at a cost. Overnight, the building gets cold and when we heat things the next day, it causes condensation on Jim's tools, which causes rust. He cleaned them last night and is wiping more condensation off.
After lunch, even though it was cold, we decided to take down the rest of the scaffolding so the front of the building is totally clear now! We are storing the scaffolding in the back of the truck over the winter to keep them protected.
Back inside, Jim has to now fasten all of the new studs he put in.
Punching holes in the track...
Then fastening the track to the lower wall plate.
Tracks all in place for this double wall.
Getting ready to put up the first wall stud...
Fastening it in place...
Next, Jim cut the top track - it goes underneath the ceiling joist we recently put up.
Before he could fasten the track down, Jim wanted to finish putting the clip angles that hold the hallway wall to the ceiling joists.
Now that everything is fastened tightly, Jim can use his extension ladder and lean it against the wall so that he can fasten the ceiling joist to the box beam rafter where they intersect, just to tie everything together.
Those jobs done, Jim now can fasten the top track to the bottom of the ceiling joist.
Then the next stud goes up...
At the end of the day, Jim had lots of fastening to catch up on...the inside fastener on the double walls are extremely difficult!
