12.10.2016

A bitter cold morning and while we're glad that we are doing inside work now, that doesn't mean we're out of the cold!  The apartment is still very cold.  We keep a little heat going in the woodworking shop which makes it a nice place to warm up, but that comes with problems too.  All the condensation that is created going from freezing to warmer causes problems for the tools and the structure.  A no-win situation right now!

Jim spent all morning doing the fastening detail work on the double wall - it's really difficult to get screws in the back side of the studs.  In many instances, Jim has to drill a hole on the outside of the stud and then use his extension bar on his drill to be able to fasten the screw.

Cutting the next wall stud...

Continuing to build the living room side of the double wall around the box beam rafter.

Jim had to bring his extension ladder up to be able to reach the top of these studs - our scaffolding won't fit in the room!

Putting up the last wall stud on this side...

We have a living room!

Jim is putting up a piece of angle to tie these corner studs together.

Jim stayed after I left and did the fastening of these studs to the rafter.  We were both happy to get home to a warm space!
