6.20.2019

Today was our first-scheduled concrete day but it was definitely good that it wasn't today.  The morning was fine but we definitely had rain in the afternoon.  In fact, we don't typically even hear thunder here but there was a short period of thunder and very heavy rain.  Figures that we had just graded the triangle and planted grass seed.  Here was a view from inside while it was raining...

The concrete contractor called Jim this morning and we are on the agenda for concrete - at 7:00 AM tomorrow!  So we will be praying that there is no rain!  Jim called and ordered the concrete after he talked with Jeff.

Meanwhile, Jim pressed on with shelf work.  He put the formica on the shelf...

Then had to carefully cut out the hole through the formica...

The next step was to put a coat of polyurethane underneath of the shelf...

Jim spent most of the rest of the day working in the pole barn.  He had to put the windshield back on the Bobcat since it will be sitting outside for a bit.  Then he had to take out the rest of the things that were inside the pole barn.  He did more compacting...

And leveling...

I told Jim that it looks like NatureStone inside the pole barn - completely flat and compact!

Front frame is all on so we're ready to go in the morning!

I had some errands to do this morning, including finding a new color for the trim.  While the sample color perfectly matched our baseboard heaters, it was just a bit too green for me.  So we decided to stick to the same pallet and are using this middle color for the trim - Shaded Ice.  The top color is the hallway/kitchen color and the bottom is the cabinet/door color.  So I think Shaded Ice will make a perfect trim color.  I just bought a quart though until we're sure!

Jim prepped the doorframe today - sanding it and putting some tape on the floor.  We'll hopefully get it painted soon - maybe tomorrow after a successful concrete pour!
