Then he started putting a coat of primer on the first side....
Looking good!
Then we went back outside to continue working around the pole barn. Jim scraped up another bucketful of dirt and then we filled up the buckets and Jim placed the dirt around the skirt.
It didn't take too much dirt to finish the back so Jim brought the Bobcat around to the other side and we just shoveled dirt against the side.
The dirt is all placed on this side...
Then Jim went and got a bucketful of rocks. We had some to place around the back to finish that off for now.
The back side is all finished for now.
Then Jim pushed the rest over the side to help build up our rock hill. We'll pretty this up at a later date.
Speaking of prettying things up, since we were in rock mode, we decided to start working up the front of the house with our rocks. We started this a couple of years ago - it's really helped avoid erasing and runoff from water coming off the roof. First Jim brought up a bucket of gravel and started filling in between the rocks...
Then a load of rocks - whoa, those are some big rocks! Speaking of which, it's amazing to think that all of these rocks were dug out of the ground on the property. Seeing as we have a seemingly endless supply, that was a lot of digging and rock work!
Rolling the big rocks out...
Using the spud bar to get it where he wanted...
Another load of gravel to go in between...
Looking good!
Not sure how Jim still had energy after all that, but his next job was to change the oil in the compactor.
It starts now with the first pull - yay! - and Jim used it to compact the dirt around the side. This was challenging since it was on a hill at the back.
But it looks good now!
High 80/Low 50 - beautiful! |
