6.19.2019

We decided to try out our baseboard heater color-matched sample on the door jamb.  First, Jim had to remove the hardware...

Lightly sand...

And then paint.  The jury is still out on the color - a drop of the sample color painted on the heater matched perfectly, but it seems to pull a bit greenish white when it's painted.

After that, Jim continued work on the shelf for the microwave cabinet.  Obviously this is complicated because the vent pipe has to go through the middle!  Starting to cut the hole...

I see you!

Trying it out for size...

It's going to work perfectly!  He had to take it down - he put a coat of polyurethane on the top before he adds the formica.

Rain was forecast for today (hasn't happened as I write this) and tomorrow - tomorrow was supposed to be our pole barn concrete day.  The contractor called and they decided to push it off until Friday.  There's still a chance of rain on Friday so we'll see.

But Jim wants to be prepared. In case the weather is nice, he'd like to get the pad poured for the generator.  He would just do this himself.  We went back outside and talked through placement again and decided to go with this orientation.  That way all the mechanics will be faced towards the carriage house for Jim to make all the connections.

Once we decided for sure, he did some more grading...

Looks good!

Time for digging - however, our gas line is buried here (in conduit thankfully!) so Jim did most of the digging by hand.

Area all dug, the concrete form positioned in the hole and leveled.

Then Jim went up and got some concrete stakes...

Stakes are all in place and he's fastening them to the form...

Little bit of gravel on the bottom...

And dirt around the form.

All done and ready for concrete - whenever that will be!

Jim did more grass cutting at the end of the day.
