Jim got a call this morning from the concrete contractor who wanted to come look at the pole barn this morning instead of afternoon. So Jim made sure everything was ready and he came about 11:00. He was impressed with the way the building looked since the last time he was here to pour the metal shop floor! This floor will be as easy as it can be for this guy - Jim will have everything ready so all they have to do is pour and finish it. Jim was not happy with the quote - of course, the guy says he has a minimum charge. But they negotiated until it got to a point where Jim could live with it. To save money, Jim will cut the concrete the next day instead of them coming back to do it. We talked about it after the guy left and decided to go ahead. So Jim contacted him and we are tentatively on the schedule for next Thursday, depending on the weather. Very exciting and it will be a huge step to have the floor done!
Jim started planing some wood this morning for the closet door jamb in the master bedroom.
Then after lunch, Jim prepped the door for painting. He did a final sanding...
Then he covered the floor and work bench...
And it was time to paint! These doors are a challenge to paint because there are so many different planes to make sure are covered.
All painted and looking great!
He had to be careful about dust, but he worked on the brake and figuring out how he is going to make some of the flashing for the pole barn.
Then he started working on making pieces of duct work for the microwave vent. He wasn't happy with the vent piece that came with the microwave - he found this butterfly valve that he's much happier with. He also had to use his crimping tool to crimp the top edge of this piece of ductwork so that it will fit into the top piece coming down from the attic.
This is going to take some experimenting - he has to go from the rectangular piece that connects to the microwave to a round 4" piece and then eventually to the 8" piece at the top. Plus he's trying to leave room for a shelf in the cabinet as well. He'll work on it more tomorrow.
