Jim worked this morning on making new templates for the shoulder flashing.
Jim now has membrane on the shoulder so it's ready for the flashing.
Once he was happy with the fit of the template flashing, he had to transfer the pattern to the copper.
Putting up the first side piece of flashing...
The main piece of copper flashing before Jim bends it into the right shape...
Cutting and bending...
Putting it up on the shoulder...
Once the flashing was done, Jim needed to put more scaffolding up to be able to reach higher to work on the rake boards. Poor Jim - scaffolding work is so taxing when he's doing it by himself and it's this high up in the air!
Putting up the first piece of backing for the rake board...
Then the next piece goes up...
Jim just uses his stapler to attach the boards temporarily. Earlier, I had marked and predrilled these pieces so then Jim has to go back and put the screws in.
Putting the last piece up on the very top!
Fastening it down. Then we brought the ladder out the upstairs kitchen window.
Even though Jim was higher working on the piece at the very top, I really, really hate when he's on a ladder on top of the scaffolding! But that was the only way he could reach this middle section to fasten it down.
Jim had to cut the right complex angle for the rake board - then he put a quick coat of primer to seal it.
Predrilling the holes...
First he put the brackets up to hold the rake board into place and then he could fasten it.
End-of-the-day shot...
