Hopefully everyone had a safe Memorial Day and took some time to remember and honor all those brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy our freedom. As I'm writing this, the Memorial Day parade is going on - small town USA at its finest!.
We had rain last evening but today was a beautiful day. Jim did a lot of work this morning - he got the back side fascia plate on and all the rafter ends connected. Then he was able to put up the plywood ridge board in the right place.
Kind of a dark picture...this was an interesting piece - the angle for where the wall and the roof section meet at the top of the roof.
Working on step flashing and shingles...
Putting up the plywood backing up to the roofline.
I marked and predrilled the primed 2"x8' boards - here Jim is bringing up the board and putting it into place.
Getting it fastened down...
Since it was a holiday, we decided to take a break from our normal routine and do some lawn work. We've been waiting for it to rain so today was a perfect day. First, Jim cut the grass near the areas we were going to work on.
Doing some back dragging...
Filling in a few low spots with our top soil - which of course meant some rock work!
More grading...
Then we put down some grass seed and Jim did a little raking in certain spots. We just want to get some more grass growing in certain spots to help with erosion. The work we've previously done as done a good job - the area along the driveway looks pretty lush!
