Jim made a steel backing board and attached the stainless steel flange for the dryer vent. This will attach to the wall so that the vent will fit in nicely.
Jim spent time working in the stairwell - getting some of the harder parts out of the way!
Jim is investigating ways to prep the utility room floor for putting down the epoxy. He doesn't want to use an etching compound because it could affect the steel. He tried using an old grinder he had, first with a wire brush and then with a sanding wheel. Neither did much except polish the concrete a bit! He'll keep investigating his options.
It was a bit of a rainy day so we worked in the apartment all afternoon. Jim had to finish putting some screws in the pieces he put up yesterday...
Then we started on the last kitchen wall space. Jim first cut the piece and brought it over to make sure it would fit. It's a complicated one with lots of cuts.
Everything fit, so Jim started making the initial cuts.
We got it up in place and then Jim is doing the final box cuts, including the box for the waterlines to the refrigerator.
Working on the rest of the fastening...
Trying out the next piece for size - this one intersected with the valley rafter so it was a bit tricky.
Up in place and cutting out the box...
Finishing the fasteners...
Wow - looks so good!
Just one more piece left...
Before he fastened down the last piece, Jim stuffed some insulation in this little area. It had rigid foam behind it but just to be complete, he added the fiberglass.
All done! There are a few fill-in pieces left but this is the last wall section in the kitchen!
