10.17.2017

Jim got the pegs put in the knee braces as well as the holes to attach them to the house.  Since he'll be attaching them to brick this time instead of sheathing, he has to use a different approach.

Jim filled in the remaining cuts in the concrete in the utility room.  He's really happy with the way this turned out.

He also started putting some fiberglass insulation in the stairwell.  But much of his time in the stairwell today was spent trying to figure out how to get things ready to attach drywall.  He's going to order some splayed angle that has longer sides and hopes that will work.  So many challenges...

As promised, a picture of the laundry room knee wall all insulated and ready for drywall!

The back yard looks so different now with the two trees gone.  We still have a few more to go and then it will be all pines back here!

In the afternoon, we went back to outside work.  Jim first made more dirt...

Moving it around to the back...

Then we put dirt up against the side of the house, keeping all rocks away.

Getting this area all evened out...

Because now it's drainpipe time!  We have to get the drainpipe in all the way to the side of the building by the carriage house - that way we can finish grading that area.  We have to start preparing for a propane tank!  Jim cut the drainpipe stack that we put in when we were first building.

Gluing the pipes...

First connection all done...

Continuing on...

Jim added a T here - there is access for the straight pipe that would lead to the downspout as well as to go around the building.

Gluing the connections to get the pipe around the back...

Then we were able to start putting dirt over the pipe to bury them...

Using the level to make sure the pipe is at the right slope for drainage...

Backfilling over the pipes...

Bringing in more dirt!

More hand shoveling around the pipes...

Some grading...looks so good!

Jim knocked off a few minutes early to go pick up his order at Lowe's - the rest of the drainpipe we need!
