Jim did more baffle work in the stairwell - it's really taking shape. At least on this side, he's already done the hard work of figuring how to do it!
He did a couple pieces of drywall in the kitchen - just some of the fill-in pieces. This finishes off the drop-down area of the nook ceiling.
I'm really excited about this - figuring out how to finish this part of the valley rafters has been in the back of Jim's mind for a long time and he wasn't sure how it would all work. But he tried this piece and I love the way it looks! He'll probably take this piece off and do a little insulating in this area first.
But we spent all afternoon outside - it was a glorious day and the rain yesterday got all the dust under control. It was time to work on some grading projects. First, Jim needed more dirt. He marked off a general path for the driveway extension to the house.
Then he got the excavator out and started making some dirt!
Then he would use the Bobcat to flatten the area and scoop up the dirt,
He started filling in our trench next to the house. We need to get this filled in for erosion plus Jim needs to work his way up to the top of the front wall so that we can fill in the corner by the stairwell enough to set up scaffolding again.
We want to put rocks in the areas where the valley rafters drain to help erosion. Jim gets a spot ready for a big rock...
Continuing to fill in this area with dirt...
Using the forks to bring up a big rock for the bottom of this area by the door...
Getting another big rock...
Once the big rocks were in place, Jim filled in with some smaller ones.
The backside of the bottom area - hopefully when it's all done it will help keep dirt from washing down.
Filling in with more dirt...
Back to the rock pile for more rocks - we'll never run out!
Putting a big one up at the top corner...
Dumping more dirt...
At the end of the day, we have a good start to having this area filled in and our rock wall started.
Plus, Jim got the side done and more dirt in front of the stairwell.
Looking good!
First it was wasps, then stinkbugs, flies - today it was ladybugs! Tons and tons of ladybugs all over the place! Hate to think what the next plague will be - hopefully frogs won't be falling from the sky - ha!
High 73/Low 50 - gorgeous! |
