10.20.2017

The floor looks even prettier today!  It dried to the darker color we were hoping for and it feels so smooth!  Hopefully it will be easy to clean and nice and durable.

Jim worked back up in the stairwell today - this is always the hardest job of the day.  But he has the top part of the ceiling done and this was extra hard with all the wires from the lights in addition to everything else.

Jim drilled through the brick and concrete wall today to anchor in the stainless steel rod that he'll use to attach the bottom part of the knee brace.  This was a 15" rod so you can see how much of it is now in the wall!

At lunch, Jim had to make some parts runs.  His special angle came in at the Drywall Center and he picked up another bundle of insulation while he was there.  Then he headed out to the roofing company where his trim board order had come in.  The trim board comes in really long pieces - in order to make it work in the car, Jim figured out the measurements he would need and brought his saw along.  He cut the boards in the parking lot, marked them and loaded them up!

We did a little measuring and marking of the driveway before we got started on backfilling.

First step today was for Jim to make more dirt!

Then he brought it over to the back of the building...

Then we shoveled loose dirt against the house, picking out all the rocks.

This picture will come in handy in the future because we will eventually have to hand dig this area up when we install the outdoor wood burning furnace.

All our pipes are now buried!

Doing more grading...

Then Jim brought a bucketful of sand and used that to fill in the corner.

Putting sand here will make digging out this area much easier when it's time!

Everything is really taking shape...

At the end of the day, Jim worked on trimming the edges of the driveway...

High 66/Low 39 - another beautiful day!
