10.11.2017

Jim did lots of stairwell work today - really difficult parts, although every part of this has been difficult!  He had to drill holes way up at the top of the stairwell for ventilating into the attic area.

These holes had to be drilled through both sides of a box beam!

The next project we worked on was bringing the cable wire into the structure.  Jim first used his hole saw and thrilled through the trim board outside and the sheathing.

Then assembling all the conduit parts...

Adding the pull box...

And the conduit to go into the house...

Outside, Jim put up a conduit clamp...

Getting it all fit...

Using caulk to make sure nothing leaks...

Attaching to the wall...

Jim made curls of extra at the bottom where the cable is buried underground...

...and then starts feeding it through.

He is also keeping extra on the ground here too - never know when you need extra.  Plus this way, there will be no kinks in the cable.

Stuffing some insulation in the box just to keep critters out...

Getting it all buttoned up.

Now that we built up the area by the stairwell, time to build up scaffolding.

Putting up the next section...

Jim wanted to make a little more dirt while we were doing outside things.

Lots of dirt ready for the Bobcat to scoop up...

Then we went back up into the apartment.  Jim started working on the fill-in areas in the kitchen, beginning with this wall area...  He got both pieces up (I failed to take a finished picture!).

Then he cut the piece for the end wall...

Fastening it in place...

Then the opposite side....

He then wanted to do the ends of the valley rafters.  First, he stuffed insulation at the bottom...

Then put the first piece up permanently...

Then the next piece...

Those details done, it was time to move into the closet of the second bedroom and work on the back knee wall...

Second piece up...

Jim then worked on making a small (5/16" thick) spacer for the other valley rafter to make everything end on the same plane.  This area will be ready for drywall then!

High 59/Low 40 - cooler!
