Today was a bit cooler and a little overcast - that equaled no crazy wasp swarms! So Jim worked some on the garage door trim. He got the upper trim board attached and was fitting the side pieces. He has to order some wide trim to finish all the edges - he emailed his order quote to the roofing company today.
Then at lunch, Jim went to the lumber yard and got some more timber. He needs to make more knee braces for the garage overhang.
After leaving this cavity open for the inspector, it was finally time for Jim to put the insulation in.
For some pieces that need to be cut, Jim is using some of the drywall in the woodshop. That way, if he needs more upstairs, hopefully he won't have to try and move a full piece up the stairs.
We're working on the other side of the kitchen on the valley rafter side. Moving the piece into position...
Starting to fasten...
Scoring the drywall at the rafter edge...
Bending and cutting the drywall...
Then the next piece goes up into place. For this, Jim had to use his brace at the bottom...
Fastening...
Finishing off the last piece of insulation on this wall...
Then Jim and I got the bottom piece of drywall onto the brace and Jim started fastening...
Cutting the rafter edge...
Putting up the last piece on this wall side...
Cutting the edge...
Yay - the slanted wall section is all done!
The next piece proved to be quite the challenge. It wasn't only the piece, it was battling everything for space. The lift had to go into the corner, Jim shuffled all the appliances around but it was still difficult.
Jim finally got it up into place and fit around the ceiling height change...
Taking down the lift. We are all finished with the lift until we are back working on the living room ceiling.
Jim got enough fastened to hold it in place and marked the rafter area to be cut. It was getting late so we'll continue tomorrow.
