10.2.2017

Today was my marathon driving home day.  It was tough to leave my mom - she's been my right-hand buddy for the last week and a half!  But we both enjoyed the visit and so grateful to have the time together!  Trip home went well - got home around 9:00 pm.

Jim had spent another productive day - he'll have to adjust to me being around more again!

We worked some on the outside - he got the last piece of soffit on the stairwell.  It was kind of crazy - he was 3/4" short on the trim board he needed to finish the fascia; he had 3/4" left of the soffit!  That's wonderful because that's the last piece of smaller width soffit we need!

Back in the apartment, he got the rest of the soundproofing insulation done in the kitchen hallway.

He hadn't finished fastening the last piece of drywall he put up yesterday in the kitchen, so he finished that and then cut the next piece.  This piece will be more complicated because of the wiring for the thermostat.  Jim decided to wait so that I could see how all that would work.

How great does the stove look in its rightful place?

Jim had been wondering how these valley rafter drywall pieces would work so he tackled that area next.  As you can see, he did it in two pieces and it turned out perfectly!

That enabled him to be able to put up the drywall on the wall.

This is one of those things that only Jim would do - but it's an important step nonetheless.  This is our eating nook.  As you may recall, we lowered the ceiling over the nook in order to get the light placement where we wanted.  So Jim put scrap drywall pieces above the dropped ceiling!  They were almost impossible for him to fasten - he had to do each one at an angle because of the way everything is attached.  But this drywall will help hold the insulation in place for a tight fit.

Next, he cut the piece of drywall for the nook ceiling.  You can see he had to put blocks of wood in order for lift to bet the piece in the right position.

First piece all done!
