10.27.2017

It was a little bit of a disjointed day for Jim.  He had planned to call the roofing company and see if they had another piece of trim board so that we could get it painted and up while the temps will still allow that.  However, he realized he left his phone at home.

He continued working in the stairwell this morning - he got some more rigid foam board installed and a little more fiberglass insulation in.

But then he had to drive home, pick up his phone and call the roofing company, and then drive out there to pick up the trim board.  While he was out, he stopped at the Drywall Center for more adhesive and more corner bead.

Once back at the property, Jim wanted to get the front security light installed.  He had to first figure out placement and then started drilling a hole through all the layers.

Hole all set...

Then he put together the box housing and got that up and caulked.

Inside, time to get the wires outside...

Wiring up the light...

All installed!  Jim may try to get these lights working - unfortunately, it's going to be getting really dark next week when we have the time change.  These lights would be much preferable than breaking out his flashlight like he's had to do in the past when he leaves for the day.

Jim got the trim board fit and cut for the stairwell, then we got it painted and primed.  I went ahead and painted the extra board just in case we need it later on.

Not too much time left at the end of the day, so Jim focused on some drywall details.  First, was fitting the corner bead to the valley rafter.

Getting it all attached...

Then it was time to move over to the other valley rafter.  First, Jim had to finish the drywall on the end...

Then he got the corner bead done on this side...

There were a few frustrations going on - Jim's drywall gun started acting up.  Jim would be up on the ladder holding the top end while I was holding the bottom into place - he'd be all set to fasten it and the gun wouldn't work.  We'd stop, take it down, see what was up - it was an intermittent issue, so it would seem to work.  Until he was back up on the ladder again.  So he will have to keep an eye on that and may have to replace that - it's too necessary right now!
