8.20.2017

We had a nice evening with Kyle last night and got up a bit earlier this morning, had pancakes, and then headed off to church.  Then it was home to change and head off to Angel!

Jim put the piece of angle up in the corner of the bathroom for attaching drywall...

Then they carried the piece of drywall in...

Getting it into the bathroom...

We thought this one might even be tougher because it had to fit behind the Pex tube, around the toilet stack and behind the upper stack - lots of things to work around with such a tall piece in a small area!

But they got it up and in place relatively smoothly and Kyle starts to put some fasteners in.

The next really tricky space Jim wanted Kyle's help with was the corner of the woodshop.  If the stacks of drywall weren't there, they could angle it up and behind all the plumbing easier.  They had to try and do it from further into the shop and had to take down one of the plumbing run brackets.

But they were able to move it up into place...

...and then slide it down behind all of the plumbing.

Kyle's putting in some fasteners to hold it in place...

Jim had to remove the receptacle before they could put the piece up - once it was up in place, he cut the drywall around out the box.

Since that one went so well, they decided to do the next one...

Yikes - Jim is standing on his sander while he tries to manipulate the drywall around all the plumbing.

But it's up in place too!

After lunch, we moved upstairs to try and see how the vaulted ceiling pieces would go.  We got the first cut and marked and the guys carried it into the master bedroom.

The piece is up on the lift...

Moving up toward the ceiling...

This piece of drywall spans the width of the ceiling - so it's cut to fairly precise dimensions which doesn't leave much wiggle room.  They had to work around the light fixture as well as be cognizant of the insulation.

Getting close...

It's up in place...

And Jim is starting to fasten it to the studs...

Kyle takes good care of Jim on the ladder!

That piece went well so it was time for the next one...

Getting it into place...

Success!

There was a pile of drywall in the master bedroom on the floor and we couldn't get the lift over to do any more.   So after that piece was fastened down, we moved over into the living room.  They started with a half sheet...

Next was a full sheet onto the lift...

And putting it up into place...

Fastening it down...

We had a really good system going...while Jim was putting the rest of the fasteners in a piece, Kyle and I would get the next piece ready.  Kyle was great at measuring and cutting while I stuck to marking.

Putting the next piece on the lift...

Moving it up into place...

Cutting out the fan hole...

We decided that if we stood the drywall up in the master bedroom, we could get the lift over far enough to keep working on the ceiling, so Kyle and I did that while Jim was finishing the fastening.

Carrying the next ceiling piece into the master bedroom...

Up on the list and raising it towards the ceiling...

Fastening it into place...

Cutting out the fan hole...

We got the last piece ready to go for the ceiling in the master bedroom.  For each piece, Jim would take a laser measurement to make sure that the piece was cut to width.  Each time, it was within a 32" of an inch!  In fact, for this last piece, Kyle cut it before Jim measured because he knew it would be perfect!

Getting everything into position...

All in place and fastening it down...

The drywall on the vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom is all done!

A good start on the high parts of the living room too!

It was great to have Kyle here for the weekend and we sure appreciated all the help!  He's an amazing worker - even after back surgery!  He probably got tired of us asking him all the time how his back was doing and to be careful.  We're sorry Julia couldn't come but we really enjoyed seeing Kyle and we're really blown away by how much we were able to accomplish!

High 78/Low 58 - beautiful!
