After all the inspection happiness yesterday, today was a transition day.  Jim worked on his drywall order last night - he'll finalize it over the weekend and get it to the Drywall Center Monday.

Today he decided to tackle painting the first outside door.  When they were made, they were primed but that coating has gotten very chalky from exposure.  They really need a good coat of paint before winter.  Jim took the first door completely down and removed all the hardware.  Then he used an industrial Scotch Brite pad and hand sanded it completely.

He didn't have the bottom door seals attached, so he figured out where it will go and got the holes all drilled.

He first brushed the paint on - but it showed some brush strokes that he wasn't happy with.  So he decided to try and use his air sprayer.  However, he's still not 100% satisfied with the finish so he may try a different approach on the other doors and possibly redo this one at a later date.

He hand painted the door trim...

While Jim was doing touch up painting last night, he put a coat of paint on the outside of one of the knee braces - they are going to look so good all painted!

Jim was thrilled to not have to think about too much insulation work today but while he was waiting for paint to dry, he did drill some giant holes in this stud next to and underneath the window.  Tomorrow I'll stuff the loose insulation in these areas.

He also took the top 2 sections of scaffolding down in anticipation for the drywall delivery.  The owner said Jim only needed to take the top section down but Jim felt more comfortable having the next section down also.  If the boom would hit the scaffolding, it could damage the house or the scaffolding so it's not worth taking a chance.

It took awhile for the door to dry enough that Jim could get it back in the doorframe.  I really like the color - the doors are going to look really good when they are all done!
