3.20.2018

Well...it may be the first day of Spring according to the calendar, but not quite according to the weather.   It's still been very cold here.  However, it looks like we are not in the track of this next storm headed east - NYC is supposed to get up to 10" of snow tomorrow!  (Sorry, Kyle & Julia!)

Jim worked in the control room this morning, designing the rest of the return line from the apartment manifold.  He has it all fit together now and some joints soldered.

Now that the control box is all wired, Jim went to put the cover on.  That turned out not to be as easy as it should have been.  The screws that came with the armor cable connections were too long and interfered with the cover.  So Jim had to take them upstairs and do some doctoring on them before he could get the cover to fit.

Tackling the shower wall area was the next project.  He first had to rip the plywood that we bought yesterday.

Then cut the first side to size...

He got the plywood attached to the wall and even put J-channel around the edges.

This is all to build up the area behind the shower stall walls - we had originally planned on Durock and tile here.  Because we don't have the actual walls now, some of the finishing decisions will have to be made later.

The other side of the shower has the mixing valve already attached with blocking.  However, none of that works now.

So the first step was to take all that blocking off...

Then he cut the plywood to fit...

All done!  Of course, it wasn't quite this easy.  Jim always cuts it bigger to make sure things will fit but it took quite a few trips up and down the stairs to get everything fit perfectly.  Very exciting to have these steps done now!

At the end of the day, Jim put the rest of the receptacles in the office.  These all have to be tamper-resistant plugs (read expensive plugs) but this room is all done now!
