Our recent snows and the snowfall from the roof have caused quite the buildup of snow in front of the carriage house garage doors! Thankfully, Jim has been able to make it up the driveway without plowing. The Bobcat is safely tucked inside the garage and Jim would be hard pressed to be able to get it out of there without doing a lot of hand shoveling. That's a lot of snow!
Jim worked in the control room this morning - he connected the water supply line from the manifold
to the furnace!
That Pex tube connects to the auto fill valve which keeps the pressure at a specific level. Jim had to use Teflon tape to seal all of those connections and the pressure gauge.
He also had to do some extra careful soldering - he had these hot/cold water lines connected to the furnace but now he had to solder the connections. This was very difficult because of the close proximity to the furnace as well as all of the other lines.
After that work, he headed up to the wood shop. He's thrilled to be able to have all his tools set up and in such a good space. He was easily able to cut this sheet of plywood exactly the way he needed.
The end product was the rest of the riser pieces for the first staircase! You can see that once they were cut, he had to use the bandsaw to make the cuts so that each piece would fit around the clip angle on the stairs.
Then he got out his jig for making pocket screw holes...
The riser is held in place and the holes allow Jim to drill down into the wood...
Making this cool hole... This is the way Jim builds furniture but he can't build things any other way but the right way and the most elegant!
All drilled - the pocket screw holes will be used to attach the riser to the top tread while the other holes attach to the bottom.
After all that work, Jim headed up to the apartment and did more sanding. He got all of the walls done in the living room except the front TV wall!
Our water softener was scheduled to be delivered to the apartment today - Jim wanted me to call him when it arrived and he would come pick it up rather than sit in the lobby. So I was on alert for the sound of the UPS truck all day long. But it was incredible - Jim pulled into the parking lot at the end of his day and the UPS pulled in right afterwards! They were able to just unload it all into the back of the 4Runner. That's perfect timing!
