3.13.2018

Thankfully, this latest nor'easter didn't drop as much snow as they were predicting, but we still had another 3" or 4" added on.

Jim worked in the control room, soldering on the pipe for the return line for the metal shop run.  He'll just cap the end of this run until he's ready to figure out the metal shop zone.

He also worked on running the smaller armor cable from the control box to the apartment pump.  He hasn't wired it in yet but is happy with this plan.

One of the phone conversations Jim made yesterday morning was to the technical department of the company that manufactures the furnace.  The manual calls for using CPVC to vent the system, which is much more expensive and difficult to find.  However, in his talks with the plumbing supply company yesterday, they told Jim most contractors use just PVC.  But the technician recommended a different kind of pipe that is much better - plus Jim can get it online through Supply House, where he has been buying all his parts.  So he spent some time planning out what he will need for that system.

Then he really changed gears and put on his carpenter hat.  One of the requirements to get occupancy is that the stairs have to have the risers on them for safety.  So Jim started working on that - first cutting the wood...

Then making all the cuts to go around the steel angles and the grove in the tread that the riser fits into...

Ta da...first one is done!  The riser is attached to both the upper and lower treads - we'll get better pictures from the back side to show that.

After that, Jim headed up to the apartment.  The master bedroom is all sanded now!

Then Jim finished the skim coating in the living room!
