3.17.2018

Happy Green Day!  We always celebrated Green Day in our house with green food all day long.  Jim and I will keep the tradition alive with green cake this evening and traditional corned beef and cabbage tomorrow.

As if we needed another affirmation that we picked the best place to live, a new survey came out that ranked Saratoga County as the second healthiest county in New York and first in the socioeconomic ranking!  You can check out your county at the site below...

We were so excited about all our good shower news until Jim opened the box and found that one of the shower walls was cracked on the side.  Sigh.  It was a special order which means more time, which is fine, but it requires taking this giant box back to the store.  We also need to figure out a way to take our other shower door back so a trip to Lowe's is definitely in our future.

Jim spent all day in the control room this morning.  He got both caps soldered on the lines for the metal shop, which we aren't going to use right now.

Then he put together and soldered the supply line connection to the apartment manifold!  There were lots of connections to solder and adjustments to make to be sure everything would fit perfectly.

Here is the supply line attached to the apartment manifold!  You can see how that bend had to be made to go from the manifold through the hole in the floor we put in years ago!

From down in the control room, you can see the pipe coming down and connecting to the pump run.  Soldering this connection together was extremely difficult.  It had to be done in place, so Jim was working above his head to solder.  Then he had to make sure to protect everything around it - like all that Pex tubing!

Once that was done, his next task was to work on wiring up the connections from the control box to the pumps.  When we were at Lowe's this week, we bought these bushings to use to protect the wire inside the armor cable.  Everything had to be cut to size and the armor cable unwound and the bushing attached.

Next, he put the connector on...

You can see that each of the pumps now has the electric wires going to it!

Then each line is connected to the control box.  Jim just has to wire those connections in and he'll be able to button this box up!
