Jim had to start the day with his yearly physical - we schedule it at a time when we think things will be calmer, but no matter when it is, Jim hates to give up his working time. However, it was a very cold day so it was good to get that done. By the time we got home, it was almost lunchtime.
Because of the cold, it was definitely an inside work day. Jim is anxious to continue work on lights and power in the metal shop. He had honed out the hole in the junction box previously but today he glued the conduit coupler in place and attached the connectors for the wire.
He had to use his hammer drill to go into the concrete to attach the junction box. He already had the conduit in place from the light fixture but he had to rebend it a little to get the exact fit he wanted going into the foam. Then he glued all the conduit pieces in place.
He had already rebuilt the ballast for this fixture but he had to get it all wired up in the fixture.
His next step was to use his hot knife to carve out a path for the wires that will bring power to the receptacles. He will use conduit from the top down into the first box; then he will switch to Romex wire to go through the foam.
Then he carved the remaining path through the foam....
He then has to use his vibrating tool to cut through the flanges of the insulated concrete forms...
Using a hammer and chisel to get the plastic flange out...
Then he was able to use the hot knife to just clean up the path!
