12.13.2018

Another really cold day today with light snow so Jim spent the day working on the garage door opener.  He had to mount the bottom safety sensors - they will project a beam of light that will cause the garage door to stop if something interrupts the beam.

Again, figuring out all this wiring took a long time, plus Jim does such a neat job.  The wires are very thin and white so they are hard to see against the white board but everything looks great - and the light is glowing!

Then Jim had to figure out how to get the wires to the motor - not easy with the steel ceiling.  You can see they are just draped over to the head in this picture...

So what Jim did was use a piece of angle - he fastened it to the top of the tracks from underneath.  This also gives support to the rail because it's in three pieces that fit together.  He punched holes in the angle and was able to run the wire across and wire tie it in place through the holes.  Genius!

Jim has some adjustments to make on where it stops/starts, but he plugged the head into our extension cord and tried it out without having the garage door all connected yet - works great!

Jim had to stop early and run into the optometrist.  The new reading glasses he picked up aren't right at all - the prescription was goofy when they looked at it so now he has to go back to the doctor that wrote the prescription and have them recheck it.  Always something...Jim feels like he has had so very many disruptions lately!

We got proof that our package box works today - we got our first packages!  In fact, we had all 3 carriers (US Postal Service, UPS and FedEx) deliver packages today.
