Continuing to get lights into the rest of the metal shop is a big priority. Jim first had to determine placement of the light in the next bay. Once he determined where he wanted the light fixture to go, he had to make and install a bracket piece that he will use to mount the light. He had to use his hammer drill to drill through the concrete deck and then used tap cons to fasten the bracket in place.
Once that was done, time to perform surgery on the last light that he has. He first has to take it all apart - this is the old ballast and connectors.
Then he has to build everything back up with the new ballast and connectors....
In the workshop lights, he used 3/4" conduit to go into the light fixtures. However, he wanted room for more and heavier gauge wire in the metal shop, so he is using 1" conduit. Also, the pass throughs that he made when we poured concrete are also 1" conduit, so that will make things easier. However, that meant he had to expand the size of the hole. With the 3/4", he could use his step bit to drill it out. This time, he used his new pneumatic nipper. He first traced the size of the conduit onto the fixture and then used the nipper tool to go around and expand the hole size. Starting...
Expanding the hole...
Once he had it to the right size, he used his die grinder to smooth the hole area...
Then the conduit fits perfectly in the hole! He had to do this on both sides.
