It was really frigid again this morning (-3 when I woke up) but the car started and the carriage house temperature was good, so all was well except that Jim had to go and work in the cold!

He spent all of his time working on the furnace plumbing - soldering the copper joints.  This is such a complicated system that everything has to be lined up perfectly, so there is an order to the soldering that Jim needs to figure out.

A closer look - even on this little section, Jim has to do a lot of soldering.  Then he has the issue of how to solder the next close joint so that it doesn't ruin the other one.

More joints...

This is the proximity issue...one joint done but the next joint is so close.

So Jim wrapped a wet cloth around the soldered joint...

Success!

He's now working on the supply manifold.  Again, alignment is super critical so he brought the pieces up to the wood shop and attached them to an extra piece of bracket to help out.

High 13/Low -5
