1.3.2018

The temperatures actually got into the higher double digits for the first time in quite awhile so Jim and I both took advantage and ran errands.  I had lots of errands to do in Saratoga while Jim spent his lunch time going to the plumbing supply store as well as to Lowe's to pick up our utility room door and more furnace parts.

I went out in the afternoon to help Jim bring in the door and check out all the progress!

Jim continues to do some drywall work - we will actually be covering up the house wrap on the stairwell wall soon!  Jim was able to cut a piece from a scrap that will fit perfectly.

He also used a piece of conduit between the two media boxes in the living room to be able to pass cables up to the TV.

Some of the copper pipe and vent pieces that Jim picked up today - this will allow him to keep working on the vent now.

But check out all the boxes of parts and pieces that Jim has to assemble into a furnace!  Makes my brain hurt looking at all of them.

One of the things that Jim picked up at Lowe's was the thermostat wire.  That enabled him to work on insulating the area where it will be attached in the wood shop.  If you look closely in front of the insulation, you can see the wire dangling.  He has it just loosely run right now from this area where the thermostat will be across the bathroom ceiling and down into the utility room.

In order to mount the thermostat, Jim made a backing board with a pass through hole and then glued it on to the back of the drywall.  He fastened the thermostat wire to the board just in case something would happen while he's installing the thermostat and the wire would fall into the wall.  Jim's always thinking and doing things in such a smart way!

Then Jim screwed the board onto the drywall and cut out the hole for the wire.

This piece of drywall required going around the sink drain!

Jim still has to cut out the receptacle but then it's all ready to attach!

Jim checking out the latest plumbing parts shipment once he got home...
