1.13.2018

Our mid-50 temperature day yesterday (and all that crazy fog!) rapidly changed overnight into cold, sleet and snow.  In fact, it is supposed to get to -8 degrees overnight - about 60 degrees colder than yesterday!  Because of the conditions, we again decided to go to church in town in the afternoon so it forces Jim to come home a bit earlier!

Conditions at the carriage house still seemed good - no leaks in the stairwell, temperatures steady and driveway icy but no problems.

Jim spent all day in the utility room.  With the plywood he picked up last night, he first figured out the size he would need to mount all the pumps and associated plumbing.

Then he got the plywood mounted on the drywall...

Next step was to cut the super strut...

The super strut is attached and Jim has basically figured out the layout of the supply manifold.  There are special clamps that fit into the super strut that hold the copper pipe in place.  There will eventually be 4 pumps for the 4 different zones of the building (metal shop, woodshop, stairwell and apartment).
