Jim first started working on making the head wall flashing...
He also got the side window trim boards made...
Next, he had to design and make a piece of flashing to tuck under the shingle on the side and then over the hip area of the overhang. Here he's soldering the piece so that there are no holes...
Here's Jim's trial piece and the finished product!
Trying it outside...
It was a great fit so caulking is next...
Then putting it in place...
A weird view from outside the window!
Time for the spacer and then the starter board...
Attaching one side of the window trim...
...then the other.
In order to make the job a little easier at the moment - especially since Jim is going to be 2' away from the wall! - Jim wanted to put up another section of scaffolding so that he could put his tools and shingles on a plank behind him. Check out that beautiful sky and fall leaves!
Putting up some shingles...
The shingle that goes next has to be cut around the flashing...the new shear makes easy work of it. It had to be primed and left to dry.
Before I left, we moved more wood in from the truck.
We have a freeze warning out for tonight so no painting outside or in the apartment, but I got another 100 or so painted in the shop. I also unwrapped and separated the rest of pallet #7 - Jim will bring #8 down tomorrow!
