The weather was again beautiful and besides battling a few ladybugs, Jim got a lot of work done on the front shingles. This is the area where things slow down - lots of details and cuts, so lots of up and down the scaffolding and in and out of windows for Jim.
We took another section of scaffolding out the apartment window so Jim could build up the tower on other side.
Unfortunately, that leaves a big gray space in the middle with only planks connecting the two towers. Because it isn't a normal width, Jim's safety rails won't work in the middle. Just looking down is a scary thing - it's a long way down. So Jim fashioned up a safety rail of his own to give that added support for leaning out - since that's another issue with the scaffolding far away from the building.
Working in between the two windows...
Working higher and underneath the window...
It was also a big painting day. This may be the last warm day we have for the foreseeable future so I was bound and determined to get as much done as humanly possible. We now officially have 9 pallets all painted - I painted 525 shingles today! That was our goal - we aren't 100% sure that we will need the 10th pallet and were going to wait and see how the shingles lasted. But there were shingles everywhere today! Extra painting stations in the apartment, more outside and in the shop. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, we had to bring the outside ones inside because there was a possibility of rain. Then we had 250 shingles that we had to find room for - they are in the back of the truck and on every available flat surface inside! But they're done so we're celebrating that accomplishment/
At the end of the day, Jim had gotten more than halfway up both windows and started working on the trim shingles underneath the window.
While there was a little bit of light left, Jim worked on doing some touch-up painting.
While we were working, we listened to the Indians beat the Blue Jays to advance to the World Series! It was so exciting - what a year for Cleveland! Go Tribe!
