10.14.2016

Well, there's nothing like waking up at 4:00 because a smoke detector is beeping loudly.  Why do they only beep at night?  And why can't you ever figure out what device is actually beeping?  Since it's the middle of the night, you (read Jim) just start ripping all of them down.  It ended up being the CO detector.

The day got better after that rude awakening - made lots of good progress today.

Jim started going down the first row on top of the new flashing/starter board.

Putting up the window trim...

Caulking the pieces next to the window trim...

Making good progress (gotta love that blue sky and fall leaves!)...

Jim's made so much progress that he needs another section of scaffolding.  Dragging it up the tower...

...and putting it in place.

End-of-the-day...looks fabulous!  Jim loved being able to just put up shingles in a big area without too many details to deal with.

Meanwhile, I was back to my painting job.  It was cool today and supposed to get below freezing tonight, so we decided that I would paint outside right after lunch on all available surfaces!

After they had hours to dry in the sun, we brought them inside so they wouldn't be exposed to the freezing temps when they weren't quite cured long enough.  Again, we put them on every available surface to finish drying!

Speaking of shingles, this is just one of many of our "holding" stations for painted shingles!

At the end of the day, Jim turned back to his auto repair job.  He got the rear axle off - that's a huge job so glad at least it's disconnected and he didn't have too many issues with rusty parts.
