Jim did get some scaffolding platforms moved up outside before it started raining - that will make it easier when he can get back outside. Plus, he got the upper window trim molding made as well as some of the trim boards that tuck underneath the rake boards.
He also worked in the downstairs shop on planning out electric boxes for outlets near the breaker box. That led to his next crazy task - bending a piece of 2" conduit to make the connection between the upper breaker box to the downstairs box. This was a tough job - he first had to plan out exactly where he needed the bend and how much - then he made a jig on his workbench before breaking out the heat gun and doing the bending. But it worked!
Jim also worked on modifying the door sill he bought for the double man side doors. You would think that they would make sills to fit the doors but it was a really difficult search. There were lots of cheap ones but Jim wanted a nice quality sill to make sure things were weatherproof. He special ordered one but it needed to first be cut to size and then notched to match the door frame. It's made out of aluminum - his steel saw cut it to size easily but making the notches were a different matter. His grinding wheel for steel was too much for the soft aluminum - it worked on the scrap pieces Jim was testing but wasn't real elegant. He's going to try a different grinding wheel.
After that, he switched to car work. He got the front brakes taken apart but found that he will need to order new calipers - they were in bad shape.
With our crazy work schedule and trying to take advantage of the good weather, it's been difficult to find time to make a much-needed trip to Lowe's. So we decided this would be a good time - we headed out once Jim got home.
However, our first stop was at the book storage unit. We have been using Jim's out feed table to help store all my boxes of books. But he really needs that table now so we wanted to assess what it would take to get it out. It wasn't as bad as we feared (boxes of books stacked completely to the ceiling!). We think that we can take everything out and readjust stacking without using the table. That's another big piece that will be tough to move but we got it in so we can get it out! Now that we assessed, that job will be put into the schedule soon - on a Sunday or another rainy day.
We got more recessed lighting fixtures, some electrical boxes and breakers, plus Jim got another smaller heater for the shops. His current one is great but it's big and hard to move around - this one still uses dual fuel, which Jim really likes, plus it's smaller so that he can carry it downstairs if he's doing car work or up in the apartment if we're working up there. Have to plan ahead - temps don't look real promising in the coming days.
But besides getting what we needed at Lowe's, our trip had another good outcome - we happened to run into the guy that Jim had called about helping him move the rest of the tools out of the back of the truck. He agreed to come help - hopefully tomorrow afternoon. Jim will be thrilled to get the rest of his tools into the shop.

We celebrated our latest accomplishments with a pizza at Pope's - a well-deserved date night!
