4.25.2016

The forecast was for rain today but it never materialized!  However, it was overcast most of the day and felt much chillier than it has been.

Jim worked on the stair stringers this morning - he had to grind each of the positions where he will weld the clip angles.

Then it was back up on the roof!  This picture shows how the roof looked when Jim left yesterday - I had to leave early and didn't capture all the valley shingle pieces he got up.

A couple more courses and it's time to attach another roof jack!

Jim decided to put a smaller plank so he can finish the right side of this roof section.

I caught a side view of Jim - looks like he's just standing on the roof!

Time for more shingles!

Making good progress...

Jim was showing me the shingles he cut for the very top course - he had to cut the tabs off.  There will be ridge shingles that will go on the very top of the ridge.

Before he could go up further, he had to move the guide rope connection that is up on the peak and is now in the way.  He just moved it on the other side of this section.

Starting the last row!

The right side section is now finished!

Jim moved the roof jack over to the left side of this section.

Almost there!

Putting the last shingle in place!  There will be a little bit left to do at the top of the valley but Jim needs to work the gable roof section in, so that will be done later.

A big thumbs up!

End-of-the-day - looks beautiful!  We are so thrilled with the way everything is turning out!

Somehow, after climbing up and down the roof all day, Jim had more energy.  He moved up another cabinet from the downstairs shop into the woodworking shop and did a little more on both of the stringers.
