4.22.2016

For what was forecast to be a rainy day, Jim got so much accomplished.  He started out the day doing errands - he went and picked up another roll of copper as well as to the lumber yard for wood for the stair treads.

Back in the shop, he got busy.  He worked on drilling all the holes in the angles for the stairs...each angle has 6 holes and they each need to be punched first.  One side has bigger holes - those have to be drilled twice.  Multiply all that by the 16 clip angles needed for the treads and you have a ton of work!

A stack of angles all drilled...

Making progress on the stairs...

Here's the wood for the treads...

With our new copper, Jim got another 8' section of valley flashing made.  These are tough since they are so big, plus they really need to match perfectly to the previous piece of flashing.

Although rain continued to be in the forecast, besides a few sprinkles in the morning, it never materialized.  So late afternoon, Jim headed out to put up the valley flashing.

Walking the flashing up into place...

Jim has this flashing designed so well - the hemming on the side helps keep water away from the shingles and allows Jim to connect the two pieces of flashing better.  Here he's putting caulk on the connection.

Playing Spiderman again...walking up the roof starting to work on fastening.

Attaching all the clips to the side of the flashing.

Jim certainly does have to get in precarious positions to get this attached!

All fastened down - marking the flashing so that we are ready to go tomorrow!

End-of-the-day shot!
