Although we certainly have had a good start to winter weather, today is the official start to the season! That means that our days will start getting a bit longer now. Jim did have to deal with winter weather today - keep reading!
Jim and I spent some time this morning discussing kitchen layouts. We thought we knew what we wanted but after talking things through, we think we are going to go in a bit of a different direction. I'm really excited - stay tuned on all that! Nothing we are thinking changes any of the cabinets he's working on now so that progress continues.
This morning, he had to totally take apart his paint gun and thoroughly clean it again. He's meticulous about cleaning when he's done but it's been sitting for 6 months now. The polyurethane was not even the best - a new can of that is on the shopping list. But he was finally able to get it to work and get the first coat of polyurethane on the insides of the cabinets.
Jim installed the access panel door in the stairway - I really like the way it looks! Besides being practical in case we ever need to get into this area where the utilities come into the house, it adds some visual interest in this area.
Jim is starting to work on the window frame pieces for the stairwell window. Here he's cutting the miter for the corner on the bottom sill piece...
Look how perfect that will be!
We got about 2" of new snow yesterday. But with a bit warmer temperatures today, the snow on the front roof area finally started letting go - the other roof areas are basically clear. That's a lot of snow right there - good thing Jim designed the roof load for strong winds and heavy snow!
The noise when all this snow falls at once is pretty incredible. And look at the mountain of snow it left down below! So after lunch, Jim got the snowblower out and cleared all this area plus redid the entire driveway areas, getting rid of the new snow so nothing gets packed down. The snowblower continued to work great, which is happy news.
